Halo Pets celebrates August 30th: Holistic day for pets
As someone who believes in the less-chemicals-the-better philosophy for dogs, Halo Pets is celebrating that mantra on August 30th, and always.
HALO believes this is the perfect opportunity to celebrate and promote all the things we do (or should do) to take care of our pets’ bodies, minds and souls and how we live within the context of our broader pet community.
ALSO, Dr. Donna Spector, HALO’s consulting vet and frequent guest on the Ellen Show, offers 10 ways to celebrate going holistic – from feeding an all natural food (naturally!) to regular dental care (as you know, extremely important) to living chemical free. Check out her top 10 tips here: Halo Celebrates Holistic.
Some of the more holistic things Fidose of Reality has tested and had paw-tastic success with include:
- Reading dog food labels and understanding what’s inside. Big words don’t necessarily equate to good nutrition. We also home cook for our pup and the results have been terrific. Less itching, no tummy problems, and a dog who licks his bowl clean.
- Dropping five pounds by gaining a few. That’s right, since having a dog, walks and play sessions are more frequent, so my waistline is better off as well.
- We’ve met and networked with like-minded people and their pets. When people of a similar mindset gather in the name of dog, good things happen.
- We’ve discovered products like Clean + Green, which is all natural and safe to use in the presence of pets. Enviro-friendly rocks.
- When it’s raining cats and dogs outside, the dog inside is still having fun. Thanks to brain games, hide and seek fun, and mentally fun and stimulating exercises, our dog knows not the meaning of couch potato.
- Teeth brushing. In the 15 years I was blessed with sharing my dog’s life, she never needed to have her teeth professionally clean. Why? Nightly brushing with a safe dog-friendly toothpaste. This is an easy routine to establish and one your dog’s vet and your dog will thank you for in years to come.
- Switching to freeze-dried snacks and making some of our own homemade yummies.
- Water filtration. Is a bit more work? Yes. Would I drink tap water? No. Neither should my dog. Highly recommended.
- We switched to a safer, non-toxic shampoo. Less lather doesn’t mean less efficacy, so the stripped down doggie shampoos have become a friend to our household.
- Sharing our knowledge base and info learned with the recent launch of this blog has been a passion and long-time goal.
We’ll be sharing more tips and blog posts about helping your dog live longer, stronger, smarter and happier without chemicals and unnecessary ingredients in the products we as humans use on them.
Fidose of Reality joins Halo in celebrating the pet holistic way and encourage you to try some new, safe, fun and all-natural for the canine family members in your life.

Thanks for the heads up. I have not seen this celebratory day mentioned before, but I’m now thanked you on my FB page. Our visit at Blogpaws was far too brief, but I believe we’re both home safe and that’s what counts. Give Dexter a hug; we enjoyed meeting your whole family–you included!
You are so welcome, Carrie. You are one of my fave go-to bloggers for holistic info, so the pleasure is mine. I heart Oliver to the umpth degree btw!
